I'm kind of different, I think if you go on a date with someone and then agree to go on a second date, that already makes you "exclusive" or so I just assume. My very first boyfriend, who I was friends with beforehand, asked me out to the movies after knowing me for several weeks. In the car on the way there, he asked me, all nervous, if I wanted to start dating him. I just looked at him for a second and said, "I thought we already were dating."

That has happened to me before with guys I worked with. We'd become super flirty with each other, but then it just ended up fizzling out someone.
I hate to say it, but if this guy was really flirty with you, and now won't even get into contact with you - maybe he *is* a bit of a player. Or else maybe he just thought it was all in good fun, not intending it to lead anywhere, and doesn't want to lead you on that something could come out of it. At my last job, hormones were flyin' all over the place, and I flirted with a lot of guys I never would have considered dating (well, mostly because I have a boyfriend, but eh).
