Re: Online dating

the best advice I can give you is, chat a little on e-mail, talk on the phone if you think there's potential, then after a few phone conversations, or even one conversation, if you feel there is a connection, meet up up for a quick cup of coffee or a drink. Don't even think of it at a "date". It's just a first meeting to see if there is mutual interest to go on an actual "date". You don't want to waste a lot of time talking to someone, thinking you're building up a rapport and a connection and then you meet and there's no chemistry. That's happened to me a few times and it's a big let down. You can get along great on the phone, but if there's not attraction on both sides, it won't work. don't get discouraged. i always say you have a 25% chance with internet dating. there's 4 scenarios.....best case scenario, you both are attracted and like each other. then you have 3 other possibilities. You like him he doesn't like you.......he likes you and you don't like him.......or you BOTH aren't interested.....LOL it's part luck, and part a numbers game. you have to weed them out. don't meet every fool that contacts you.......make sure you're interested in them enough before investing too much time. have fun, meet in a public place and if they give you their phone number *67 to block your name and number until you decide you're ready to give it to them.
have fun!

Hi Rose

You seem to have experience with the dating world.

About this guy who I really like. As I said before, we've exchanged emails over two weeks and he still hasn't suggested meeting or exchanging numbers.

I am really keen, I really like the sound of him and I'd like to see him in person.

My gut is saying no, don't suggest anything or encourage him - let him make all the moves.

But he isn't...just read an article online explaining that an email or two would be fine, then a phone call conversation then meeting up. Emails over a prolonged time aren't good. And I can see why.

Other guys seem keen to meet me straight away.

Should I send a next message saying I like the sound of him...that wouldn't be asking him out but giving him some kind of encouragement?

What do you think?

Oh and is it ok to email a guy first? I haven't so far. What I like to do is add them as a favourite then see if they respond.
