It feels like being bullied because that's exactly what it is. He's trying to force you to do something against your will. I think that qualifies.

You could simply say "I feel I've gotten all I can from that organization and I really am not interested in attending anymore meetings. And I would really appreciate it if you would respect my wishes on this matter." Anythiing more genteel than that, and I'm afraid you'll be stuck with this guy on your back for as long as you're not willing to put your foot down in the name of being a "Southern lady." Schoolw as 25 years ago. He's obviously not the same person he was back then. I only see two choices for you - make it clear that he can choose to either respect your wishes or get out of your life, or you can continue to let him harrass you. It's really up to you.
