[[email protected]]i am just not on the level of sexywhenwet's and stolie's psychology on this topic i guess..

are you saying the only reason i'm a nice person is 'cause i don't have what it takes to be a bad boi? *lol*

and i'd be more attractive if i were a cocky, smug a§§hole, as long as i treat you right?[/QUOTE]

Let's pretend mating is like a food chain, since I'm bored and can't sleep.
Before we begin, let me define nice as respectful, faithful, open and decent and NOT a fawning, overattentive, desperate, spineless pushover.

1. Top dog is the good looking nice guy who doesn't stay single long because every woman's looking for him.

2. The good looking jackass is a second tier predator who has the choice of much of what's left. There are more of these guys around, because it's easy to be a jackass when you're good looking and can get away with anything. Women will try to convert you to a nice guy unsuccessfully until a) you get sick of the games and settle down or b) lose your looks and slip further down the chain.

3. The next guy on the totem pole is the nice ugly guy. These guys are everywhere, like most of the contestants on NBC's Average Joe (some of them definitely aren't ugly). They look with envy on the good looking jerks and wait bitterly for something to come their way - usually women who have been burned too many times and are sick of trying to convert the guys in group two. These group three guys are the guys usually asking why women don't like nice guys.

4. In a distant fourth is the ugly jackass, who stupidly reasons that because women like good looking jerks, being a jerk will make him more attractive. He remains single until he gets an attitude change or hits the gym.

The lessons to be learned are 1) It's best to be good looking and 2) Whether you're good looking or not, nice gives you your best shot.

So, I guess my advice would be, nice pays (provided you're using definition 1, not 2. Definition 2 will kill you every time.)

I realize how ridiculous this sounds as I write it. OK, this is an ugly universe I've constructed. Also somewhat warped and oversimplified. But there is a germ of truth in there somewhere, otherwise it wouldn't conform so well with reality.
