Restless Leg Syndrome Board Index

Hello everyone,

I am new to this forum but not to the HealthBoards in general. I hope someone might be able to answer my question.

I have had restless legs syndrome for a long time, but I have never gotten any medication or anything like that for it. Since Thursday of last week, I was having a lot of problems with jumping and twitching in my legs, sitting and in bed. I was wondering if anyone knows if the problem I am going to ask about can come as a result of RL.

Since yesterday, I have a "new" agony inducing muscle problem in my leg. It is my left leg, and the calf and up the back of my thigh to just under my bottom is so very, very painful.

My husband thought perhaps it was cramp and suggested I try putting my foot flat on the ground. Aaarrrggghhh !! It was as though somebody was twisting a huge flat knife inside my leg at the back and around to the side. If if flex my toes in a certain way, I get locked too. It is as though it was a very sharp but at the same time dull aching sensation, one of those that makes you feel ever so nauseous.

I have tried quinine in tonic water, massage with muscle rub, painkillers and tried - without success - to stretch my leg.

I do have, amongst other things, lupus and fibro, but this is something I haven't encountered before with my muscles, especially in my legs. Could it be something to do with RL. Hope someone can help.

Have a good day.
