Re: Update on David
Nov 13, 2003
[FONT=Century Gothic][COLOR=Red]Hi Edna,

So...it was a guanethidine block that caused David's RSD to spread? I had one of those too and it was not a great experience either. With mine, they put a tourniquet on my upper leg and put an I.V. in my foot and then put in the drug. Is that how they did David's? I don't know if that's how a guanethidine block is always done or not. Personally, I think there's a big difference between a guanethidine block and a lumbar sympathetic or stellate ganglion block. I thought the guan. block was much more invasive and I can't see how RSD wouldn't spread or get worse with it. I hope he decides to try it, but I'd understand if he didn't. It's hard when you try so many different things, all to no avail. It's hard to keep up the positive attitude with different treatments especially when you've been let down so many times. Let us know how the meeting today goes with the med students.
