Lyrica
Oct 9, 2005
I responded to the thread asking about this new drug, but I have gotten so much relief from it that I wanted to post. I was on neurontin for about one year (1800mg). My dose was gradually increased, so I was not aware of the effects it was having on me. I was so depressed an scatterbrained. Two days after they switched my medication to Lyrica, I felt like my old self. My pain was reduced to its lowest point in the 18 months I have had RSD. I wish I could say that the pain was gone, but not such luck. However, my life feels like my own. Before I felt so helpless and hopeless. It was well worth the switch. If you are on neurontin and experiencing side effects, I would ask my doc about this new med.

I too was started on lyrica...there isnt much info on it as it is a new drug out. I couldnt take neurontin because of the side affects, but this new drug lyrica has helped me. The thing I notice most with it is the burning is greatly decreased...as for my other pain...the deeeeeeep done pain..the stabbing pain...thats still very much there. To get help with the burning is a miracle in itself..so I too would reccommend talking to your Dr if you have burning pain and are on neurontin as lyrica has many less side affects and helps me much more with the burning pain than anything (other than methadone) than I have tried. So for those out there who suffer as I,...mention it to your Dr...see what he says.....Claire

Hi Sandy....He is right, it is a very expensive drug. Workers comp pays for it for me so im lucky....but the price for 100 was $178...so its a little pricey....worth every penny I would say. It hasnt done anything for the deep bone pain I have...but the burning is much much better. I also used lidocaine patches...but had to stop cuz they iritated my skin. If You get a chance to try Lyrica...go ahead...its a pretty good drug in my oppinion....Claire
