Is this RSD??
Sep 14, 2006
Hi, It's been about 7 weeks since this started. My fingers on my right hand are numb (all of them) and painful. There is swelling in my palm. I cant even make a fist. Its like some joints in my fingers dont work. I have had an EMG, Blood work, Nerve conduction study, and a cervical/brachial plexus MRI. All normal. The pain also shoots up to my shoulder when I try to make a fist or something. Its really bothersome. At first the doc thought carpal tunnel but its not. I am seeing a neuro next Friday. Doc also suggested a triple bone scan. What would that show? Does this sound like RSD?

Sahuja12...how's the hand now? Did you get a diagnosis yet?

My RSD has improved dramatically. I'm still taking Neurontin for the nerve pain, I still have a lot of burning in my pinky and running underneath it halfway the arm. My fingers are still stiff...especially in the morning, but they are looser now than they were and I can make a fist. I still can't move my thumb across my palm to the other side, but it's coming. This came about with a lot of physiotherapy and home exercises and, of course, God's blessing the means taken to get better. My hand looks almost normal now. Most people would not know what I went through, or am still struggling with.

I hope someday YOU will also get your hand back...or at least as far as I did. There are still challenges, but whenever I get discouraged I look at the photos of my hand back in August and am reminded how far I've come.
