RSD Survivor
Jul 4, 2008
Hello all,

I was diagnosed with RSD in 2000, and had a SCS implanted in November 2001--it saved my life. It had to be redone in 2004 because the lead became entangled in scar tissue and broke, but I have been free from RSD pain, but had a small flare-up at the beginning of the year, which seems to have subsided with use of the SCS. The affected limb was the right foot/ankle after a bad sprain, and which began to spread upward and mirrored in the left, and at my worst, to my arms. Sympathetic blocks no longer worked, and after an SCS trial, I felt immense, immediate relief, and had one permanently implanted.

At any rate, though I feel relatively pain free, I have recently developed a strange rash on my forearms and stomach. I have been off of medication of any kind since April 2007, so it is not that, but I have been unable to determine the cause of the rash, and it is burning a bit, but does not quite feel like RSD, at least nowhere near as bad as I recall it. Remembering that rashes can be a symptom of RSD, I decided to do a search on rash and RSD, and found this board, connected with another symptom I've been having but did not think related at all: painful sores or pimples on my scalp.

So I do not know if these things are indicative of a new flare-up or something else. I may contact my doctor this week.

My sincere wishes for your recovery. I have recovered, for the most part, and pray you will as well.

Regards,
Jim
