I have taken ketamine both as IV infusions and in pill form. Unfortunately neither worked very well for me. I did three rounds of IV infusions. The first was a three day trial. I did get relief but it only lasted for 24 hours. The second round was five days with two infusions twice a day and I also received lidocaine and magnesium. It worked a little better and I had about 50% relief for two weeks and I also began taking ketamine in oral form at this time--taking 100mg twice a day. The last round was also a five day trial with ketamine twice a day and lidocaine and magnesium. I continued the ketamine tablets for another three months. I only got relief for about 24-48 hours with the last infusion. With that said there are other patients at the clinic I went to that had great responses to ketamine. Like everything else with RSD it is very individual.
Currently I am on a combination of anti-epileptics (Topamax and Zonegran). I am allergic to neurontin and lyrica. anti-inflammatories (Tolmentin), anti-depressants (cymbalta) , pain killers (nucynta, methadone, fentanyl patches), bone builders (calcium, miacalcian) all for RSD then I am also on others for sjogrens and palindromic rheumatism and other health issues. Way too many pills and not near enough pain relief!!!

Hey again!!!
Been awhile... So the lidocaine infusions are new for me. I had one early November and one Christmas Eve. The first one gave
me about 3 weeks of solid pain relief. Then there was an incident where I was dropped at a hospital so I got so much worse. Then the second one helped a bit, but not nearly the same although I was worse going in. They are trying to do another one for me this week and then I will get them monthly.
I am seeing Dr Schwartzman again this month for prior testing to Malke sure ketamine is a good option for me....
Hopefully getting theow dose infusion by Spring/Summer.
Also... Got taken off Tramace & put onto 200 mg TramDol...
Dr Schwartzman does ketamine low dose 5 days in a row for four hours each then the weekend off and then another 5 days. It is said it is supposses to set like a cast does. Holds everything in place so that it can heal.....
There was a new study in the Netherlands in November I think where 30 people did low dose. Started with high pain levels and by the end of the treatments they went down to a 3 and then of course it slowly rose over the next 12 weeks but went up to like a 7 and that os when there is a booster....
I cannot wait. Right now sitting and waiting for my lidocaine infusion. I am going to Philly from Canada because I want to try everything possible. Prob will end up costing me $10,000 due to being Canadian no coverage there. That includes the prior assessments flying down both me and my mom, hotel, food and treatment......
I wish there were more Dr's like Dr Schwartman. I am 28 so I will do almost anything to get remission. This can be totally depressing. Especially when thinking, I'm only 28.....
I am praying ketamine works. Hopefully they will find some kind of cure soon. As well, more compassion and understanding for those of us who suffer everyday!
