Just to add to the Potassium need... we get that kind of charlie horse cramp any time our potassium/magnesium/calcium levesls our out of whack... you might want to look into a multi-vitamin/mineral combination... that should knock those cramps into net year if not later ! ... ot. I have some numbness spreading up the calf, but no hyper sensitivity to touch. I also have tightness in the calf muscle, and my right calf has been trying to charlie horse alot recently. I never connected the charlie horses or tightness to rsd. I guess I try to ignore things as much as I can. Thanks for the post. ... (12 replies)

... Thanks for the info Karen, and hugs back. I am taking Methocarbamol, 500mg 2 to 3 times a day at this time. It was prescribed because of the back issues that I am having and I am still experiencing these "cramps" or "charlie horse" symptoms, so I am thinking from what I read about that Baclofen it sounds like something I could really benefit from. ... Hi Patti, I've only had RSD since September of 07 but I don't have funky nails or shiny skin. I diagnosed after foot surgery with a bad outcome. A 3-phase bone scan was the final deciding factor for me. 6 weeks after surgery I was so very sore so that's when the testing began. ... Sunshine, Again, I can only speak for me.. Um.. I wouldn't say it will ever be cured.. but the pain level changes.. For the first fewyrs, I was a mess.. I was not dx until four yrs after my injury.. It wasn't until then after I started being treated with the proper coctail of meds and treatments that things seemed to calm down.. ... Hey Deb, I get those leg cramps also. Yes it is from the RSD but it can also be from a lack of vitamin.. I can't remember what vitamin it is.. I am sure if you search it on the internet it will tell you.. Theres nothing I can do for them when I get them except massage the muscle it just take cramps away quicker.. ... especially in left leg. I was eating muscle relaxers like pez and finally that lessened. couldnt stand on left leg longer than to brush my teeth. My muscle would charlie horse on me or draw up in left calf. I believe I have muscle atrophy in this leg from the colapsed vertebres for so long. ... (2 replies)
