... Hi Sue, Your doing all the right things. Some Docs are real downers when it comes to RSD. The Doc that diagnosed me was a wonderful diagnostician but once the diagnosis was made all he could offer was " your not going back to work…..ever and there is no cure and it's rare with little info" Part of this was true. As long as I was on pain meds…..no work. Couldn't come off them... (17 replies)

... Hi Snowman--I was diagnosed w/ RSD after my first carpul tunnel/trigger finger surgery in 1999. I was put on heavy doses of neurontin for the 1st 1 1/2yrs & finally went to a pain specialist who was my saving grace! RSD had me literally screaming when the ice pack melted or was taken off and the burning & pain, swelling, lack of sleep, guarding my hands constantly, & lack of... (9 replies)

... Flaminghands is right, if you have the burning pain or pins and needles pain, ask about taking Gabapentin or Lyrica. I take Gabapentin and it works great for me. It had to be built up in my system though. I started out taking 300mg a day and I felt like I was gonna knock out! Now, 11 months into it, I am taking 3200mg of it! I know it works for me because if I am out and don't... (7 replies)

... I have not tried it but others on this board have done it and I am sure they can give you some pointers. Unfortunately, there is no quick fix or cure for this disease. It is all about getting temporary or gradual relieve. Not sure if you are having burning type pain but most people are using or have tried Lyrica / Gabapentin. If it works and you don’t have any major side... (7 replies)

... I have fibromyalgia also and no one knew what that was for the longest time. It was just a "garbage" diagnosis. Now there is a commercial that most people have seen advertising a medication for fibro. Too bad there isn't some new drug for RSD and it's not on TV so people could see it and that it is real. What we seem to get are the drugs that are the leftovers from... (29 replies)

... I went to my regular Dr & he said that more than likely I have a nerve pinched behind the knee that would cause that kind of pain in the foot. He prescribed Lyrica with Clonazapam & so far it has calmed it down. He said that he will order an EMG to make sure it is what he suspected. I asked him about RSP, because I have so many other issues with pain. He said that it is a... (5 replies)
... I have had RSD for 4.5 years and have gained 100 lbs. It is horrible! I can not take neurontin or lyrica, or most of the rest of the meds because of severe allergies.
