Ok so I don't even really know where to ask this question, but here it goes.

Sometimes when I'm sleeping, I wake up in the weirdest position: I'm lying on my back, with my elbows and wrists in an extremely bent position. my forearms are stuck upwards against my chest and my wrists are bent downwards with my fingers flexed ( straight).

When I wake up like this it's extremely painful my hands go numb. It takes a couple seconds for me to get "unstuck" from this position.

I pretty much look like I have my arms in the same shape that chickens do, if that gives a better visual than what I explained.

Does anyone know why this happens? If I am laying on my back what would force my arms/hands to get stuck in that position?
