... Hey Epile!!! I am not quite sure of what your question was? You had sleep paralize(sp)? Have you had a sleep study? I was having problems waking with a choking, gasping for air, heart pounding , and daytime sleepiness symptoms for a few months, so I arranged for myself to have a sleep study( which I thought was kind of creepy, having someone watch you sleep for 8... ... That happened to me years ago-waking up and having trouble catching my breath! I had NO idea as to what it was and brushed it off. It would happen every now and then and I thought nothing of it. Years later, I woke up one morning and had NO energy. It was all due to sleep apnea, which I had never heard of years ago. Yes, it would be a good idea to have a sleep study done. (4 replies)
... I'am 31 years old and had the same experience last night, I woke up all of sudden and couldnt breathe! It was so scary I think it lasted for a minute, and I started coughing. I was so scared to fall asleep so I stayed up as much as I can. I have a feeling that I have SA and Iam looking to make an appointment ASAP to get this issue resolved. BTW Iam brand new here and Iam... (4 replies)
... I agree with the previous poster. It sounds like SA, and Acid reflux. If he absolutly refuses to call a doctor (which he really should) perhaps he could sleep with a backpack on and place a tennis ball in it. That way if he were to roll on his back, he'd wake up enough to roll over. That's an old school treatment for stuborn people like my ex husband, lol As for the... (4 replies)
... It sounds very much like sleep apnea AND acid reflux. However, if he will not see a dr. there is nothing you can do about it. Both of these conditions can be VERY serious, if not dealt with. He should see a sleep specialist and a gastro man. (4 replies)
... cancerous condition. I feel very lucky that I had this choking sensation because without it I would have not known about Barett's. Treatment means I will be taking Prilosec for life twice a day. ... (6 replies)
... a feeling of never being able to achieve a fulfilling night's rest is a big symptom of sleep apnea. Are there any other things such as snoring, waking up with a choking sensation (or out of breath), very tired during the day, sweating while sleeping, waking up with raised heartrate, etc that go along with sleep apnea? Its just an idea i want to run across so u can check that... (3 replies)
... Thanks for the reply Susan. I am having a sleep study scheduled. I am the fattest I have ever beenin my life and in the worse cardio shape I've been in since junior high, so that may be contributing to the problem. That being said, compared to most people, I am still in excellent shape and my BF% is probably around 14%, so I am not too sure how much of a factor that is. ... (7 replies)

... I should mention I was suffering from sleep paralysis early this year but no longer. It wasn't a big deal, and I found it more fascinating than terrifying. I've also been having to go to the restroom during the middle of the night, and when I do, it's like I'm a zombie or completely wasted and am completely disoriented. I'll wake up on the floor,on the couch, or some... (7 replies)
... I've been suffering from the samething for the past 6 months. It started off as only a couple times a week, but now it can occur up 15 times a night. I've gone days with only a couple hours per night of quality sleep, and my body feels like it's going to collapse. For the last several months, it'll happen when awake but very tired. It's scary being completely conscious... (7 replies)

... I know that I suffer from Sleep Apnea, my girlfriend's dad has it, and he snores, me I'm 17 and I snore louder than him and louder than my dad who also has it, he knows he does, he got tested for it, but anyways, since being afraid knowing that I have it, I've checked several websites and sources for information to tell my mom I know that I had it, but insomnia is one of the... ... The best advice I can offer is to see your doctor. There are a lot of questions that should be asked to determine what the cause may be. Some are: Are you overweight? Do you have a large neck diameter? Do you snore? Do you wake up gasping, coughing, or choking? How many times do you wake? Do you have the feeling of restless legs, or a crawling, tingling sensation? Do... (5 replies)
