... why trazadone? try a different medication for sleep. any benzo derivative will help i guess but then you need to increase and increase the dose. lyrica also suppose to promote sleep, it just stopped working for me. my doc increased my lyrica dose i'm now on still doesn't work. without sleep i just cannot function. My dr. said to try the 50mg and if that does not work go up to 100 mg and I tried that last night and it did help me relax but I was still not sleepy! Any ideas.? Thank you!!!! ... Anyone taking both Lexapro and Trazadone? I'm taking Lexapro for OCD and Trazadone for sleep, but I still haven't worked out when the best time to take Lexapro is (i.e. first thing in morning, right before bed?) and what the ideal dosage of the Trazadone for sleep would be (I've tried from 25 mg to 100 mg with varying success.) ... i've been on trazadone for close to a decade now, I was experiencing bad insomnia, so my GP suggested trazadone which helped until recently, my nightly dosage was 200 mg + 50 mg Mogadon. they work very well for me. As for being a bit out of 'it', I'm not sure if the meds (also on divalproex) or my current medical situation (low grade glioma right frontal/temporal) are... (2 replies)

Trazodone is typically prescribed so people aren't given those benzo's that are highly addictive and highly tolerated to the body.... if you can avoid the addict drugs... please do so... anyone saying you shouldn't do conservative therapy first, obviously love their drugs waaaaaay too much. ... I was told I could take 50 mgs to 150 mgs. I tried all 3 doses and I found out 100 works best for me. 50 wasn't enough and 150 made me too tired the next day. If you can take Trazodone it is good. My doctor says it's a mild prescription. (12 replies)

Some time ago I was prescribed temazepam for my insomnia and it worked well for me, but after awhile the daytime after effects bothered me too much so a different doctor prescribed ambien which was designed for insomnia relief (unlike many for which sleep is a side effect). ... I take 50 mg. It doesn't make me fall asleep; it just helps turn my brain off for a while so I can go to sleep. I think it takes a while to get used to the meds.
