Well I just picked up the Chantix prescription! WOW not cheap. I can't believe insurance doesn't cover it. Seems they would rather pay for this than hospitalization for smokers?

Keep forgetting to ask -- how much weight did everyone gain on this? I just lost 60lbs and I will go crazy if I put weight back on. My trainer swears she will keep me moving so I won't but I've heard people gain regardless. So has this happened to any of you?

Thanks for the kind words Memaw -- maybe I saw you at Opry Mills, lol....I was just out there this past weekend.

Chalupa -- What happened with the hypnotist? Hope you aren't hypnotized and unable to post ;)

Tampquit -- glad to hear the weather is great down there. I wish I could be on a beach right now! It's beautiful here now - supposed to be sunny and 75 tomorrow!! I love Spring.

That's it for now........time for bed. night all

I didn't gain any weight while on the Chantix. It just happened that when I got off the Chantix it was Thanksgiving. Then Christmas. Then New Year's Day. I ate like crazy!! I had a very good time.!! Put on LOTS of weight. Have since lost it. Now trying to lose more.

Memaw:)
Hey River 525, you could start a new thread for the weight gain issue. It's a subject close to all of our hearts and would be a big hit.
Have I gained weight? well! start a thread and i'll tell you:wave:
For the first 2-3 weeks or so I gained weight (I'm guessing 8-12#; I had gained a bit before quitting so I'm guesstimating). Anyway, I've lost 3# in the past week and I'm not snacking as much. I tried being very conscious of 'snacking' as a replacement for 'smoking' and thought I did pretty good but at night watching TV was difficult and I hadn't truly realized how much I was snacking until my bf mentioned it. Last shopping trip I p/u healthier snacky things-----radishes, minneolas but now haven't had the snacky urge much at all so I'm hoping the extra weight starts to melt away! Spring is here or so my calendar says despite temps in the teens this a.m.

Anyway, quitting is much more important than some weight gain. You can deal with any gain later on. Good luck and keep on coming back here!
Hi River - no weight gain here - quit for 3 weeks so far. I'm off the Chantix already too - no need for it anymore.

You do whatever works for you -most people here are exercising to help with the weight control, I have not exercised at all, and haven't gained any. I am trying to eat healthier too - but admit I splurge on steak & lobster and chips and dip and crackers and cheese spread and beers and cake at a wedding last weekend - so, I'm actually not eating so healthy after all. DAMN....I thought I was!! Well, anyways, just be aware of your eating habits. That first quit week - I didn't care - I said I could eat anything, do anything, buy anything I wanted, because I was quitting smoking, and that was the single most important thing in the whole world at the time. The rest I would deal with later.....weight gain, shopping bills, whatever it was I indulged on....

Good luck - you can do it!! :blob_fire :blob_fire
