Smoking Cessation Message Board

Smoking Cessation Board Index

Phew! I feel a little more relieved. I have read the other posts talking about counting the hours and not days in the beginning. I already can tell a difference (it is only day three) in that they taste really bad and I don't get that "aaaahhh" feeling when smoking. I feel it is mostly psychological right now. My husband (who is a nonsmoker) asked me on day one "I thought you were quitting." He doesn't understand how it works. I told him about the quit date being later and he just rolls his eyes. Maybe that is why I got discouraged. I really have had no side effects at all, so far, except the horrible headache. I just need to be patient. I know it is not a miracle drug and that one has to have the desire to quit, which I really, really do. I want to nip this in the bud for good and not ever go back and be proud to say I am a nonsmoker.
Thanks for all the encouraging support! This message board does help me a lot with the mind frame of quitting for good.
We are here for major support, we can and will succeed with our quit. it has been over 2 weeks for me and I already feel so much better. I am back on the chantix as I was getting cravings and I reached for that instead of the demon.
That's what I'm talking about! I am hoping the encouragement from this message board does it for me this time. I do remember last time I quit (for 10 months) I did feel better and I noticed my skin looked awesome and my nails weren't yucky anymore and of course, I smelled nice. :D

I still have a huge headache and I noticed today my elbows and wrists hurt. Hoping these side effects will go away soon. I'm going to hang in there.
Doc just called me back. She said to not up my dose just yet and to wait until the headache and muscle aches go away before titrating up. I told her I didn't want to have a stroke or anything in my sleep and she said not to worry. Shoot! I was excited to bump up and stop smoking sooner!
