Smoking Cessation Message Board

Smoking Cessation Board Index

Yes, smoking can really mess up your sinuses. Let me clear something up however. Nicotine is the drug in tobacco that is addicting. But it is the tar in the smoke plus other ingredients added by the tobacco companies that can cause cancer. It is the tar not the nicotine that stains your teeth (and your lungs and sinuses) brown. And it is the tar that causes cancer.
I am quit over 1 1/2 years after smoking for 38 years. While I was a smoker I was bothered with stuffy sinuses. Also, every cold I contracted turned into bronchitis and cough that lasted for weeks. I am happy to report that, the very minute I quit smoking, I quit coughing. (Some people do cough early in their quit; it's normal either way) I haven't contracted a cold in the 18 months that I've been a non-smoker.

Quitting smoking is a struggle that is well worth it. Please consider it.
