... Skimmer, I'm just wondering how you are doing with not taking the chantix anymore. I know its only been a few days but do you feel stronger cravings? ... (20 replies)
... I cut my dose down after being on 2 blue ones for about 4 weeks as I was hurting with hip pain and not sleeping good at all. Almost immediately I was sleeping peacefully and without the hip pain either. Worked for me but you can be your own judge. How strong are you? ... (7 replies)
... I guess I have gone with so many years of not sleeping that finally I am quiet and calm and my body just passes out..hehhehe...this is such a great feeling... ... (46 replies)

... Hello Angela, Still smoking 2 a day :( BUT I refuse to buy anymore after this pack (only 3 left in it), that's it I had enough. If I can give up 18 a day what's 2 more? Stress levels are up and down like the stock. So I get on line and play some semi-mindless game. Don't think your quit date will happen before Turkey day, that's the day I wake up and never smoke again as I... (12 replies)
... Good for you two, that's a fun way to do it. I continue into week 4 with Chantix and I still can't kick them all the way. I was suppose to pick a quit day, but did not do it that way. ... (19 replies)
... I am not sure how to get into one of these. Tomorrow is going to be my first day smoke free. I am doing Chantix and I noticed where a lot of people say they are tired but I am like wired. If I did not take a Xanex at night I probably would not be sleeping at all. ... (2 replies)
Odd side effects

... Have you talked to your doctor about the insomnia? Perhaps he/she could give you something short term to help with that. I don't know if you've put the smokes down and actually quit, but I know a lot of people who suffered from the insomnia who successfully dropped the evening pill once they were well along in their quit. It was like they started forgetting to take the... (11 replies)
... all these things are the result of a PHYSICAL addiction. which is why when peopel go on chantix and their nicotine receptors are blocked they lose the interest in smoking. ... (3 replies)

... Hi Kimmie, I am fairly new to this website myself. Well, sounds like you have tried everything else in the book to try and quit smoking, so why not try the Chantix. It is worth a shot! I have been on it for 5 days now and it is working. You can still smoke during the first week you are on it, which is good because I still need a smoke now and again. I find that I am... (95 replies)
... h the worst part. I have never done anything this hard. The cravings are short but they come so 10 second cravings with 2 minute intervals. The dang chantix has me not sleeping so I am wide awake for these long days. Last night was the longest 5 hours of my life..I am venting but not being negative. ... (26 replies)
... When I started, I had a terrible time with the side effects. I loved the dreams but I had a hard time sleeping through the night. This may have more to do with the nicotine withdrawl than from the chantix, I'm not sure. ... (7 replies)
... Hi, Justme  I'd posted a bit of an update down below, but I just wanted to thank you for your post! Yeah, I'm dealing with some side effects, but not like DH. I'm having trouble with severe nausea if I don't split the pills in half; very, very vivid dreams (this I like :D ); postnasal drip; a dull headache that's been there since I started the first pill; lack of... ... I can attest to the tiredness. About two weeks after I began taking Chantix, I was suddenly feeling falling-down tired -- for the next two weeks, before it finally subsided. If I had a morning meeting at work, I waited to take the pill until after the meeting was finished, because I was honestly afraid of falling asleep. So I understand your husband's sleeping 16-18 hours a... (9 replies)
... Meemaw: I know you're familiar with these two phrases: "Can't see for looking" and "Can't see the forest for the trees".'s true for me and the Desyrel. That script was filled in May of last year and I had NEVER noticed that sticker on the bottle saying "take w/ food"!!!! As I said, I rarely take it and still have almost a full bottle -- I'm offering that as... (16 replies)
Weird side effects

... My first week on Chantix was fine. No side effects that I noticed. When I went to the 1mg twice daily, things started to change. I had headaches every day for the first week. ... (46 replies)
... Thanks for the information on Chantix. I don't think it's available in Canada. It doesn't sound like you can use the nicotine gum or NRT with this drug. However, it says if you have a cigarette to stay on it, so what is the difference? LOL :) Well, day 3 now for me!!!! I'm proud of myself, but it is still really hard. Went to a social function last night and did get... (59 replies)

... Hi John - I just read the tail-end of this posting, and saw something about showers, so I had to go back and read the whole darned thing...;) Hey - I hope you're doing better, and are not getting the waves of anxiety. It really does get better with each passing day. I swear - that first week - I thought I would go crazy. Between the not sleeping, the crying for no... (28 replies)
... I'm giving this alot of thought being that I have been so addicted for so many yrs & have a stressful life. I'm thinking the patch is too easy for someone like me who can either put it on or not or take it off. I do have 3wks of Chantix left & when you take the pill that's it which I will do. Now that I see other people had side effects like me & not an allergy like I was told... (15 replies)
... Thanks, everyone, for your responses. I now understand the difference. I'm still doing great w/ not smoking and continue to feel super. The only "problem" is sleeping. At the beginning on Chantix, I couldn't sleep enough and now I'm having difficulty getting to sleep. Have been occasionally taking sleep aids, but I'd prefer just falling asleep. Oh well....I rather be... (6 replies)
... r time. I temporarily used other things to make myself more comfortable in order to continue the chantix. I had to take a laxative and get a prescription for a sleeping pill. I got through it, you can too! I've tried so many different avenues to quit smoking and this medication by far was the easiest and most sucessful! ... (15 replies)
