Re: A myelogram
Jul 14, 2010
Thanks Melinda and justme for the input on this test. I went to have mine done a week ago and when the doctor before the procedure told me it required me to stay laying down in a hospital bed for 2 hours after the procedure before i could go home, and he said that i would have to take it easy for the rest of the day when i got home,yy meaning laying down as much as possible and no bending at the waist. I wasnt aware all this and had alot to do that Friday, where I could not be home taking it easy. The other things i did not know was the risk of seizure from the myelogram, the spinal headache risk, he aslo said there was a risk of CSF leak if where they puncture my back does not heal, and then the risk of infection of course. i am also concerned about the amount of radiation i will be exposed to from this. The neurosergeon I am seeing now as my original neuro surg. was doing crap about my post op problem, thinks i should have the myelogram as it will show a better picture than an MRI w/contrast. I have been having ongoing neck pain, w/pain going into my left arm, and numbness in left thumb, index and middle finger. severe neck and forearm pain on left. I want to have the test done but mostly concerned about seizure from it. I think the doc who was going to the the myelogram said that there is also a risk of "nerv e damage", which i do not need more of, i think what is going on with me is permanant nerve damage due to the acdf surgery. I am 5 months post of c5,c6 acdf fusion. Anyway did the myelogram at least show stuff that an MRI with contrast did not show for you guys? Did u all at least get a correct diagnosis out of the thing is what i am trying to ask? thanks Estella
