Hi Michael,Nanner,Berenice and ALL,
I tried using a tens machine some time ago, like nanner it didn't work for me, that was my experience!
As Berenice said, I also found it rather toublesome to use, with all the wires and self adhesive pads that don't stay self adhesive for too long.
I used one for my lower back and left
hip area and I think I am right in saying you shouldn't use it directly (One
of the pads) on your neck, at least it stated that on the machine I used.
Incidentely, the one I used was similar in size as the one you used Berenice (Small personal Radio).
You are also welcome Berenice (like you,I was shocked)
Take care my friends,

to ALL
Davy
p.s. Seemed to miss the point, once I re-read your post Michael and had to come back and edit.A Tens would probably be a good device for exercising in the way you describe as I seem to remember it massaging and making the muscles jump uncontrolably.
