When you see the neurosurgeon, ask about what kind of surgery will give you some long term results so you don't have to go through this again so soon.....or ever.

From what I've seen, a lot of people jump at an ACDF(and it is suggested by docs who don't do anything else)and they end up back having more. Undoing or adding to an existing ACDF is not easy and has risks too.

So see if he/she has a long range plan to fix the problems and not just gloss over them which an ACDf can do. If you have stenosis and it's bone related, removing a herniated disk won't help....they need to address the bone issues too. Removing the bone spurs needs to be addressed too. Take your reports with you and ask how each level will be fixed and that you want a long term answer if possible. Make them come up with a plan that sounds reasonable. It's better to have 1 big surgery than a bunch of little ones, in my opinion.

Sorry it's so fast...I had 2 in 3 months so I can understand your reluctance. I wasn't even done with the pain from the first one. And to top it off, they had to remove my gallbladder in the middle of it all so it was 3 surgeries in 3 months and I was wiped out for a good year plus.

Let me know what the neuro says.

gentle hugs.........Jenny
