I really think you need to "start over". At least it might help to think of it that way. Maybe starting with a physiatrist and working your way up to spine surgeon. I'd suggest STARTING with the spine surgeon, but I'm not convinced that all your symptoms are spinal in origin. I'm thinking particularly of the "heaviness" in your arms.

The pinky problem sounds like left C8 radiculopathy (from the C7-8 level). Hopefully, it's that, and not due to cord impingement.

I strongly urge you to quit trying to deal with the SYMPTOMS (PM, etc) and go after CAUSES (which likely are multiple). You need NEW MRI's, and you need physicians' opinions about whether one or more symptoms might be non-spinal in origin.

 Thanks Webdozer. You know, after typing my post and then reading your reply - I think starting over is a good suggestion. I simply have been doing the same thing for longer than I realized. Just trusting my PM doc that he is doing the appropriate treatment for my issues. I agree I need new MRI's.

I can't imagine what might be causing this other than posture, muscle spasms or my neck. Over the last 3 years I have been tested for everything under the sun due to some other health issues. (Turned out to be thyroid - Hashitoxicosis).

Can anyone explain the difference between a bulging disc and an extruded disc? And is the "nerve root exit zone" the same thing as the foramina?

Thanks again for your input Web. Much appreciated.

Pam
