Lisa,

Baptist Memorial is at Springhill too.I stayed overnight and if I had wanted, could have stayed another night, but the nurses were very sloooowwwww with the pain meds. I figured I would be more comfortable at home. I can't believe they won't at least keep you overnight.Don't be surprised if you have to stay in the short stay unit. They are really good there, but since there wasn't enough patients, they had to move me to the regular floor, where I didn't get good care at all. Admistration has already heard from me and plan to follow up with a letter as well.

I used donor bone also. I had no collar whatsoever, but they used titanium plates to stablilize the spine, so really, with the hardware you don't need one. My NS said it takes longer for fusion and your spine is unstable for too long without the hardware, which is why you have to wear a collar in the first place.

I have done well without the collar, plus I have a very short neck, would've probably have had to have a pediatric collar.

I have heard of your NS, but don't know anything about his reputation. I absolutely love my NS. He is so down to earth and spent alot of time with me, even with the first postop visit. His office staff is a little dingy, but I can live with that. :)

As noted in my signature, my neck is a mess too. I worry about the C5-6 as that one is pretty prominent, but not encroaching on the cord.

I can't wait to be able to go back to PT. I have some very good therapists and trust them. Waiting for my neighbor to get her pool reheated, so I can do some water walking.

My son gets out of school for the summer next week. Hard to believe he has finished the first grade. They grow up so fast. Hoping to get him into some sports later this year, when I go to part-time days. We had a ball today, buying and planting plants, and Josh dubbed one nursery "Bug heaven" He is really into bugs and stuff, and kept himself amused for hours yesterday with a frog he had found at the creek. The lucky critter finally was able to escape :p

We will finish our garden tomorrow, after a quick trip to WalMart in Jacksonville for some bedding plants.

I haven't pushed, pulled, or dug a thing today. But I was able to grill some steaks for my hard working men.
