... Hi Mike, Sorry to hear you're still experiencing a lot of pain in your neck. I'm 9 weeks post op and just saw my Dr. yesterday. Although I've made significant improvement, I too experience a deep aching pain at the back of my neck. It gets worse when sitting in front of my pc. As an engineering manager this is my life; which concerns me greatly! I'm scheduled for a gradual... (4 replies)

I have tingling and burning, and shoulder pain, but mainly if I sleep wrong or do too much. Can you attribute your pain to something specific. I only wore a hard collar for a few days and then have been in a soft collar. I only... (9 replies)
... I had a 2 level ACDF on 12/9/2010 C5-6 and C6-7 with a titanium plate and screws. My surgeon used a cage with my bone fragments and protein in place of the disc. Due to the protein I had excessive swelling and was in the hospital for 5 1/2 days. Swelling, swallowing and sleeping are still issues. I also had the dilaudid pump. The nurse told my husband to make sure I... (3 replies)
... How are you now that it has been some time since your surgery? What 2 levels did you have done? I had C5-6 and C6-7 although my surgeon thought about adding C4-5 but decided against it as the recovery would be much more extensive. I am hoping he did not make the wrong decision. I was willing to have it done to avoid another future surgery. My surgeon is liberal and I am... (25 replies)

... Is your current fusion from C3-C7 and are you fully fused that entire length with hardware? I have a C5-C7 ACDF and C6 has movement now so I have to have the ACDF re-done or instrumentation at the back of my neck. At the same time I have problems at C4 so I'll end up with a fusion from C4-C7. (19 replies)

... My name is Dan. I've been unable to work for five years b/c of severe, severe neck and trap pain. Before that I worked at a computer for 50-60 hrs. a week. Well, since then, I've had 2 shoulder surgeries and ACDF on C4-C5 and C5-C6. DUMBEST THING I'VE DONE IN MY LIFE. The neck surgery cured none of the pain, and I'm still on muscle relaxers and painkillers. I've spent... (1 replies)

ACDF on Sept. 8
Sep 11, 2008
... Three days post-op, and I'm feeling pretty darn good! The surgery went off without a hitch, except that it took about an hour longer than the neurosurgeon expected. Apparently, there was some difficulty accessing C4-C5 as he made his way up my cervical spine from C6-C7, but no issues, just extra time. He said lots of osteophytes (bone spurs) on both sides, which he removed...I... (13 replies)
... Hi Today is the three year anniversary of my surgery. I'm not 100%, don't know if its just nature, surgical issue or what. Makes me wonder if I would have had a better outcome if I went ACDF (C4-C7) or if I had gone to a bigger surgical center but frankly given the information I had then I would have made the same decision. I've seen overall improvement in the past... (0 replies)
