... Hello Everyone, I just went for my one year post op with my neurosurgeon. The X-rays showed the fusion was solid and the Dr released me with no restrictions. I still have a little numbness in my left index finger and I get a few tingles down the arm. The Dr said it could take years for the nerves to completely heal. The numbness is barely noticeable at times. I'm back to... (10 replies)
... Hello, I have read your posts with intense interest over this past week. First, congrats on your anniversary date. I celebrate your success and empathize with your ambivalence at the ongoing process of recovery. I am hoping you may be able to help me considering the uniqueness of your injury. I am complicated. I am 6 months post op from a revision lumber fusion... (3 replies)

... I'm not sure how much a "revision" surgery differs from an initial surgery but I just had c5, c6 and c7 done on Dec. 19. I also had a titanium plate installed. Isn't that what the "cage" you are refering to is or is that something totally different? ... (4 replies)

... I have a history of lax ligaments and tendons so joints (including spine) tend to move too much and thus I've had additional spine levels that don't do well. Same reason I've had a bunch of knee surgeries and a few foot surgeries as well and I've started to experience pain in both thumbs. I knew the C5-C6-C7 fusion had not worked well and my former orthopedic spine surgeon... (5 replies)
... I feel for you! I too am s/p acdf c5-c6. Its been 5 weeks.. I feel like I swallowed a golf ball, feels like someone is pressing their thumb on my esophagus and holding it there... I am so distraught about it! Not only is my right arm still numb and painful down the shoulder to the forearm to the fingers, but I ended up with this lovely bonus of a "chicken bone" stuck in my... ... I had ACDF C5-C6..I guess my opinion goes both ways. I really had to choice but to do the surgery. I herniated the disc, it was going down into the spinal column and was almost to the middle of my shoulder blades by the time they found out what was wrong. By the time they found the problem both left/right arms, hands and fingers were numb/tingling and weakness along with... (25 replies)
... and now cubital tunnel, all after this ACDF surgery. I I had a feeling as if my whole left arm was being stretched or pulled since a couple days after that surgery. ... (4 replies)
... hadampser: Just a suggestion, evaluate with your surgeon any other areas that may have problems. I had an ACDF C5-C7 in 2006. At the time C4 was showing some signs of eventually being compromised but the doctor decided not to include that level in the fusion. Given my history of stuff not holding out too well I should have pushed for C4 to be included (there's a... (12 replies)
... I don't think you'll be able to do the kind of work you do in 3 weeks. I had ACDF C5-C6 and I was off work for 9 weeks, which I think is probably a little long. I have a desk job... I think you would find it very hard to do that for 8 hours, plus the heavy lift and very physical nature of your job - you're probably looking at 6-8 weeks, and then you will still have to... ... I am four weeks post op from acdf c5/c6. My neurosurgeon has ordered me not to lift anything more than 5 to 10 lbs, and that I can take my soft collar off when being supported by a chair or when sleeping. I have my first post op appointment tomorrow, and hopefully will be released to go back to work. He told me to expect 4 to 6 weeks off work for recovery time. I am... (9 replies)

... I searched the posts and did not see the symptoms I am having. I had a 2 level ACDF (c5, c6, c7) on November 30, 2006. Everything progressed fine. I do not have the numbness and pain in my left arm any more. Starting around March/April time frame I started with itching deep in the muscles of my neck and shoulder. There is electricity feeling all over my back sometimes. My... (2 replies)
... I had neck surgery (ACDF c5-c7) in Jan. I used a orthopedic spinal surgeon. They DO do necks. I am real happy with the job he did. I am fully fused now. (17 replies)
... Thanks for posting, you guys. I am a little more than 5 1/2 months out from surgery. I was doing pretty darn well and now I am having a set back. All of a sudden my shoulder blades are killing me. It got so bad my PT got me an appt. for tomorrow with the spinal surgeon. I am really scared that I messed something up when I went on a plane trip in May and had to pull my luggage... (8 replies)
... Dear Souffoue, I know this is late and you are probably getting your beauty sleep before your surgery scheduled for later today, but let me give you a bit of peace concerning this procedure. I am 1 week postop today. I am sitting up in bed right now because my muscle relaxers have gotten my days and nights a wee bit messed up, BUT, please do not feel nervous. If you are... (9 replies)
