... Hello, I wish you both a full recovery, it will take at least 1 month to really start to feel better and actually notice a difference(symptom/pain wise), you both have had major surgery and your body needs the rest to heal. Congrats CCTVEngineer on being smoke free! I quit smoking after 20+yrs so my fusion would not fail as well(I had C4-C5,C5-C6,C6-7 fused in 2009). I have... (7 replies)
... HI CAROLYN, A myelogram is also a great test to over the discogram and it is less painful. Was you MRI With contrast??? If so, I dont think you would need any other diagnostic test. I had an ACDF C5-6-7 in October 2002 and did not have good results due to my surgeon. Get a 2nd 3rd opinion!!!! It cant hurt ,only help . I also agree with the others re: other levels and... ... I'm 12 weeks 2 level ACDF post-op. I can now stress myself (lift, bend, twist) without any follow up pain or discomfort. Although I'm off all the drugs, I still have numbness in one hand and middle finger. I've shunned getting PT but wonder what others may have experienced. Can PT help post op? (5 replies)

... Jas... I am sure it has not escaped you that the MRI report stresses right-side problems, but your symptoms seem to be predominantly left-side. Also, your list of symptoms may have several cervical nerves participating, but those symptoms would stem, I believe, more from the C5 and C6 nerves, which come from the C4-5 and C5-6 levels. So, if I only knew your symptoms, and then... (25 replies)

... I would have them both done at the same time, I had my first ACDF on C6-7 on 11/2004 at that time my C5-6 was showing signs of being done, but my surgeon said the least amount of fusions the bettter and lets just cross our fingers and hope that C5-6 could wait a long time, well after my C6-7 about 6 months after my C5-6 started causing all kinds of problems, I wound up back in... ... I had c4_c5 last October. None of my problems, left arm, hand and shoulder pain, neuropathy in both hands, first 3 digits. I have been dealing with this for 2 1/2 years. I was diagnosed last month with multilevel degenerative disc disease with herniations at C5-C6 (mild stenosis) and C6-C7 with broad based right foramina protrusion resulting in severe right neuroforaminal stenosis and compression of the right C-7 nerve root. ... Hi All, My story: ACDF C5-6 in 2007. ACDF C6-7 in 2011. I've been having excruciating pain for about a week when I put my shampoo on my head (no joke). I decided to call my neurosurgeon and he ordered an MRI and x-ray. I don't have the report but I came home and looked at the images on CD. It looks like a huge herniation and spinal cord compression at C4-5. I... (1 replies)

... I had a 2 level ACDF C5-6 C6-7 on 12/9/2010. So far I feel as if the surgery has been a success. I still get some burning shoulder to shoulder and the base of my neck get achy. Not sure if it is related to the surgery, but I have not had a sinus headache, pain or pressure since the surgery. Granted this is not my bad season, but I tended to suffer year round. I would use the... (0 replies)
