... I am a male, 5'11", 166 lbs., who has been getting steroid injections at C5/C6 to control the side effects of C5/C6 cervical stenosis, all of which I have seen listed here: pains all over my body, neck and face, bottoms of my feet, my ankles, etc. While getting shots, I tried repeatedly to get the sort of pain meds that I CAN take, not that which makes me worse, from my... ... Wow I'm so sorry to hear that. I know I really need to be more positive. When I'm driving I do get the fear of getting my neck messed up again. With my c7-t1 done in February and now this just done I feel like some pain could be that I'm still recovering from my fusion . Today is 3 weeks post. ... "Subarachnoid space" is usually used in the context of the brain, but it can also refer to the hollow running down the spinal column, which contains the thecal membrane, within that the spinal fluid and within that the spinal cord. Your report looks pretty innocuous. You have osteophytes (bone spurs) growing off the C5 and C6 vertebrae just above and below the C5-6 disk.... (4 replies)

... Hi, I'm new to this board (but a regular on the back problems board as I'll be having a decompression surgery on L3,L4,L5 sometime this year for severe spinal stenosis and extensive facet arthritis). I just got the results of my C-spine T-spine MRI: Any insight would be appreciated. C2-C3, C3-C4, C4-C5: Unremarkable! (THANK GOD!!!) C5-C6: Irregular left... (3 replies)

... Blueyedcharlie... this type of surgery is long-established and very common. It's called ACDF (anterior cervical diskectomy and fusion). They remove the offending disks and put pieces of "donor" bone in their place, then hold it all together with titanium clamps. Eventually, your spine will be "fused", but you should lose very little range of motion, because the disks in... (4 replies)
... Hi, Here are my new MRI results. I went to the ER yesterday because of new excruciating pain. I had ACDF C6-7 (1/11) and ACDF C5-6 (2007). I'm going to paraphrase: C3-4 - minimal diffuse disc osteophyte with minimal right-sided foraminal narrowing. No spinal canal narrowing. C4-5 - Mild left greater than right broad-based disc bulge which abuts and deforms the... (1 replies)
... I had an ACDF C5-C7 in 2006 and spent 2 nights in the hospital. I was out of work for 6 weeks from my desk job (required travel but even without travel 6 wk was the minimum). I used to work in Short and Long Term Disability and the standard for ACDF is 6 wk out of work minimum. For posterior fusion of multiple levels 6-10 weeks minimum from even the most light job. Heavier... (46 replies)
... Hi, Everyone, I am 3 years post ACDF C5-6 (donor bone). My last MRI was almost 3 years ago (6mos after surg). I've been having some more numbness in my hand and possibly my foot and weakness. Some pain in my neck, spasms -- not terrible, but nagging. I decided to go back to the doctor and here are my new MRI results: C4-5there is a mild disc ridge complex which... (5 replies)
... Hi Binx welcome to the board and thanks for your post. I have a C5-6 herniation with attendant shoulder pain numbness in my feet. Three weeks ago my NS said surgery ASAP he scared me quite a bit. I now have gathered my courage and will see him tomorrow to fix a date. I have a second opinion that says definitely surgery but no rush but lately my condition has deteriorated to... (9 replies)
... If you are being sent to a surgeon, your Dr thinks it is time for surgery. From my experience, I waited too long. I knew there was a prob. in 2004 and did PT and it did get better with Relefen 750mg 2 times a day for a month and then down to once a day...everyday. The pain and damage to my neck got progressively worse and I could have had c5-6 fusion then and chose to wait.... (4 replies)
... Hello all, I had an C5-6 ACDF performed in the Fall of 2006 after not having any luck with physical therapy, injections, traction, etc. for my herniated disc with neck pain/stiffness and right arm/hand pain/tingling. I had a quick recovery and was feeling fine. My surgeon noted that I was fully fused (had used allograft and a plate system), but that I did have a bone spur... (0 replies)

... I had a C5-C7 fusion in Jan. I wrote about this set back before in another post. I went on a trip and pulled alot of luggage and also got jerked around in NYC (literally) in taxis. So now the surgeon's nurse practitioner gave me a Medrol dose pack for 6 days. I am done with this med tomorrow. I do feel better, but I am still feeling alot of shoulder blade pain. I may have to... ... I had my one year post-op visit with the Orthopedic Spine Surgeon today. The fusion is 100% complete and shows good positioning :) I still have some disc space narrowing at C4-C5 which I knew about  (we decided to fuse C5-C7 and wait until the future, or maybe never if I'm lucky, to do a higher fusion if I should develop symptoms of C4-C5 disc problems in...
