... Hi, I've had stiffness and numbness in my ring finger and pinkie since surgery. Now the stiffness seems to be fading and the feeling seems to be coming back but I have spots on my hand under my pinkie and also on my pinkie, especially the tip, that hurt like a toothache if I touch them. the NS nurse says that it is my nerves "awakening". They can test you at different levels all the way to your spine so they could put the part that sends the signal on your fingertip and then the receiver on your spine and see if the nerve is good, bad or gone. ... thanks a lot jenny. So my mom has numbness and tingling and the doctor mentioned like you did that is actually worse than pain.. because nerve damage is worse than pain. But we were still not issued an MRI, though the last ones a month old. Shouldnt the doctor have recommended we get that? ... ink there would have to be some sort of damage to the spinal cord if a damaged disc is being pressing on the spinal cord all of the time. Why else would we have pain in areas other than the spine itself? ... (8 replies)
