... That is pretty early to return to active full duty as a Firefighter only 2 1/2 months after a fusion. As well as it's pretty amazing for them to say you are 100% fully fused this soon. Usually it takes up to year for that. I was a also a volunteer Firefighter/EMT for about 10 years and I know how hard it is on the spine. I have had 3, two-level, cervical fusions but... (8 replies)

... I'm pretty surprised to hear that you were told it was "damaged". It sounds like you had work done that could have just stretched it? If I were you, if you haven't already, I would try to get a copy of the OR report to confirm or deny the actual "damage" and see if it was just stretched perhaps... Nerves heal SLOW - 1 inch at a time... And if yours were hit down low..... (15 replies)

... Kolt ~ A couch potato NO! I don't believe for one minute you will become a couch potato. If there is no other problems at any other level and you have screws and plate you should be fine to do almost every thing you did before. Take caution though. I say this because it is common "once fused, there will be more." Now this depends mostly on if you have problem discs... (4 replies)

Like you I have always been a stomach sleeper and it really is hard to change that. I bought a body pillow which helps a lot. :D For Christmas this year my NS's, PA gave me a micro bead pillow and I just love it! Now for me...... I started... (11 replies)
