What a fun... (14 replies)
... Dee, Welcome To The Boards. You Will Find Alot Of People Here That Can Help Answer Your Questions. I Would See An Orthopedic Spinal Specialist. I Am Not Familiar With Congential Fusion But Would Think That They Would Have To Remove All The Bone Spurs That Grew Over The Disc Space To Free Up The Nerves. A Myelogram Is The Best Test. I Had One Which Showed Everything... (6 replies)

... HI Need some help trying to figure out 2 different diagionses by my NS and 2nd opinion OSS. Some history first: laminectomy L4-5 2001 excellent results within 6 months felt 100% better. NS was Dr. Babu. MVA 2/2002 mri results: c45, 5-6, 6-7 herniated. Confirmed c4-5, 5-6 radiculopathy. ACDF C5-6-7 10/2002. Immediately post-op pain was worse than before surgery. Dr.... (1 replies)

... Hi and welcome!!! Your myelogram will confirm stenosis. I had an acdf c 5-6-7 in October and worse pain after surgery. I finally switched NS'S and was sent for a myelogram which confirmed stenosis at c4-5 due to bulging disc (dr. FORGOT to fix) and c6-7 due to spurring. At the c6-7 area, that is where I had the bone graft fused and it did not fuse correctly. I am having a... (13 replies)

... HI, Wow, your results sounded similar to mine. Do you have alot of pain??? I don't want to scare you but Spurs can be very painful and they do not go away on their own. I had c4-5 herniated, c5-6 herniated and c6-7 herniated with spurs causing stenosis. I had ACDF C5-6-7 AND then post. laminectomy-foraminotomy c6-7 to remove the spur. It as not a success. I wish you luck... (4 replies)
... Hi, I hope this helps........... 1. CONGENTIAL is from birth 2.yes to all. the disc desicciation is causing the "cracking" noises. It is bone on bone from the disc's being dehydrated. The minor central disc bulge at c4-5 that is compressing the c7 nerve root and the small left disc protrusion at c6-7 and DDD would definetely cause the shoulder muscle spasms and knotting.... ... HI, What exactly are your findings for disability? MRI, CAT SCAN ETC... results??? The SS requirements are listed in their book which you can request. I applied after my ACDF C5-6-7 which was a failure and was denied. Since that I have had a posterior lami-foraminotomy c6-7 and now I am scheduled for a revision acdf c5-6-7 and a NEW acdf c4-5 with possible c3-4 involved.... (7 replies)
... HI, I Am going through the same problem you are right now! I originally had a NS do all of my surgeries. laminectomy L4-5, ACDF C5-6-7, Posterior lami-foraminotomy c6-7. A friend suggested I see an Orthopedic spine specailist which I did and received a different diagionses. So now I am seeing another OSS for a 2nd opinion. It is very confusing when you get 2 different... (4 replies)

For those of you that haven't read my posts, I had ACDF c5-6-7 w/titanium plate in October 2002. The fusion level was at c6-7. 2 weeks after surgery I again was in complete pain 24/7 STILL with no relief. Original NS said it was all healing pain. I sought... (10 replies)

... hi all, came home yesterday. Surgery went well. I ended up having a cervical laminectomy and foraminotomy c6-7. EMG studies said I had no nerve damage and NS said I had a substantial amount of nerve compression. So much for tests!!!!!! Anyway, just wanted to say thanks to everyone on the boards for all your support. It really helped me through some of the bad times. Will... (37 replies)
... Well, greetings I suppose (but I *really* wish I didn't have to be here! *sigh*). I guess I'm just looking for some support and maybe some advice. I'm a 44yr old male, very active, and a professional commercial and military pilot (AFRES). All was well until about six weeks ago; at that point I started having a lot of pain right where the neck turns into the back and... (2 replies)

... Hi, Sorry to hear about your pain. I also have stenosis at c4-5 and c6-7. I am having surgery June 4, c4-5 will not be touched because the stenosis is from a bulging disc which potentially causes no immediate threat. The c6-7 STENOSIS is caused by bone spurs and is the site where my fusion was done in october. Stenosis can cause pain from neck to toes. All depending where... (7 replies)
... Hi to all. Please also note that anyone with metal/titanium or any implant in the cervical or lumbar spine areas should have a myelogram. MRI'S AND CAT SCAN'S do not always pick up stenosis, herniate disc's etc. The metals cause shadowing which can result in false/positive results. I am living proof!!! Had MRI and CAT SCAN and they only showed bulging disc c4-5. Had... (13 replies)
... Dozer I have total faith in my surgeon. He is chief of neuroscience and the spine center for Stanford . He has been honest and conservative. He told me at follow up, which I was aware of,that I have 2 more bulging discs at c5,6 and c6,7 and bones spurs at c6,7. But he didn't think they were bad enough to fuse and wanted to see if this would solve my pain. Therefore the... (5 replies)
