... Great Response littlesizzy!!! Second opinions are always good. I as well was confused with the level 2/3, C3/4 not healing?? Would a surgeon do another surgery so soon? I always heard that you have to wait at least 6 months between surgeries or longer. Even though it is normal to have adjacent levels herniate a surgeon may not re-operate, I had C4-C7 done in 2009 and my last... (11 replies)

... Early this year, my neurosurgeon recommended I have a cervical spine fusion from C4-C7. At 51 years old, I thought this to be a giant surgery and began to look for alternatives. The main problem is a curve in my neck causing my spinal cord to rub up against it. Films show a spinal cord thinning in that area. I looked for alternative and really didn't find any... (13 replies)

... My surgery is scheduled for 10/19. They will be fusing C2 to C4 anterior and posterior , I'm already fused from C4-C7. Apparently I am fused from T1-T3 again congenitally so they will be inserting rods from C4-T3 to hopefully keep my neck from collapsing more than it is. I'm very nervous but hoping for pain to be relieved. (161 replies)

... So I spoke with my surgeon yesterday and he is recommending more surgery. It will be posterior surgery, fusing c4/c5 and c7/t1. So, essentially my neck will be fused from c3 to t1. He also said that he would work on other areas that need to be "cleaned up". Is there anyone on this board who has been fused to this extent c3-t1? He said that I will be able to turn my head... ... on a waiting list for PM, but there is a shortage of these doctors in my area, Jenny I guess I assumed that my neuro would have cleaned up the spurs when he was fusing C4 to C7. ... Greetings, Latest update, three weeks and one day since 3-level ACDF: Progress continues, and each day it gets better! First post-op visit to my neurosurgeon was last Wednesday (09/24) - he was impressed with my progress, and was confident that fusion was occurring (he took an x-ray just to be sure). He suggested that I could wear a soft collar in order to drive, but... (13 replies)
... rgeons ,ortho and nuero, and I have been given 4 different approaches to decompress my spinal cord. The anterior approach which involves the removal of 3 discs and fusing seems drastic.I'm afraid that it would cause too much strain on the discs above and below the fused area which could give me problems in the future. ... Background: I am a 40-year-old male. I... (4 replies)
