... Hi, I am a newbie and was hoping someone could answer a few questions and a few observations. I am 5 days post-op acdf, and although my NS went over alot of information with me, some he didn't (or may of and I just don't remember...which is probably the case) and I was hoping for some insight. My surgery was on C5/C6 due to a herniated disk with severe spinal cord... (7 replies)

... I am still having a decent amount of pain in my upper shoulder area. I am now 1 yr post-op ACDF with titanium fusion and corpectomy at C4-C5-C6. Does anybody have any helpful ideas? Thank you. (0 replies)

... I am 5 weeks post-op ACDF C5/6. The Soma he prescribed said to take it 4 times a day. The Darvocet was prescribed "as needed for pain." So, the Soma was not just for me to take as needed - it was intended to be taken regularly. The theory (for me) was that the muscle relaxants were causing the dizziness/nausea - as well as pain - and I should keep taking them. I see my doctor... (4 replies)

... Hi everyone, I have a question about everyone's recovery from an ACDF C5/C6. I had my surgery in September, 2012. My insurance company denied physical therapy, so I asked my surgeon what exercises I should be doing. He gave me a basic list of exercises, and I started working out with a strength and conditioning coach. At 3 months post-op, I asked if I could go back... (0 replies)
... Today marks 4 weeks - to the day - that I had my ACDF at C5-7. I lurked on this board for weeks before the surgery and read lots and lots of posts. Thanks to all who posted the good, the bad and the ugly. Because of all the information here, I was able to set myself up before and after the surgery. My experience, so far, has been great. I spent the first 10 days at... (4 replies)
... Sorry to hear you are having so much pain post op. Have you had another MRI to see what is going on? ... (7 replies)
... I wonder which is better, your story with the surgeon or mine. I went to my first post op at 12 days and saw the Phys. Asst. ... (5 replies)
... Hi there, I have to agree with the rest of them, you need to give it time, I was also all freaked out after two weeks and in horrible pain, I am now 4 weeks post-op and still numb from chin to suture line(6" half around my neck), I had an ACDF c6-c7 (2nd fusion after 4 years). I also was post-op diagnosed with rotator cuff tendinitis and tendinosis, bone spurs, and will need... (10 replies)
Post-op ACDF C5-C6
Sep 28, 2012
... Hey all, I had an ACDF at C5-C6 with hip autograft on September 18. Prior to surgery, I had severe spinal cord compression and nerve root compression. I have some pretty awful muscle spasms in my traps, and my graft site is really painful. I do have very good ROM in my neck (I don't move it too much, my first post-op visit is Monday), but it cracks sometimes. I am... (1 replies)
... which helped but did not make the pain go away. It gradually got better, and at two weeks post op things were looking a lot better, but it took several months to feel 'normal'. ... (7 replies)
... I am about 24 days post op from 3 level acdf. ... (3 replies)
... It's important to report any troubling symptoms to the doctor immediately. We here can all share our experiences and give personal advice, but only the doctor can really know what is going on. About the second week post-op I started having muscle spasms. Partly due to the surgery and the cervical collar but also in other parts of my body based on the uncomfortable... (4 replies)
... Hello all, Its Easter, 11 days out post-op from acdf c4,5-c6,7. Sounds like a lot of people on here have about the same kind of issues in one form or another , mine is a little different. yesterday being my 11th day and celebrating Easter with family was the first day I felt good since my surgery. Mind you, I had to go back in after a week and have 2 more injections because... (2 replies)
... 😒Absolutely. I'm so sorry you went through that. It's absolutely horrible. I had never heard of that either. The first time I found out was after a foot surgery. Had a cast one taking pain meds. I started to notice my foot was itchy and felt like it was on fire under the cast. When my doctor took off the cast it was horrible. Blistered, red, oozing, itchy. Looked and felt like...
