Thanks birdman for the information.Ihave done lots of research myself and have learned a lot.I think the thing I am confident the most about is my surgeon.Been doing spine surgery for 18 years and 7 years was the chief spine surgeon for the Navy at Portsmouth.He feels confident I will recover 100% and so do I.I do believe I will get better results from strictly a spine surgeon... ... Also, be cautious of a surgeon that is doing so many of the same surgery's in the same week. As a critical care nurse.....I have seen just how knife happy these guys (or girls) are. Even if he is the best in your area, get a second opinion.. (25 replies)

... Mel, First thing to keep in mind, as you stated, everyones different. Every surgery is different & there can be other factors involved. Such as how long one has had the existing problem, what the surgeon finds when its time for the actual surgery & how well one takes care during that recovery period & so on.... ... Well I had my MRI. My doctor (PMC) called me right away and said that I had degenerative damage, protrusions, annular tears and spinal cord impingments. I had a successful acdf at 4/5 in Jan 05. ... Nicole, Honestly I cant imagine much more pain the migraines. If you can handle having those headaches then you should be fine with any postop pain. Most postop members seem to be relieved. Although I would imagine there will be some discomfort it should be easier to control then the migraines with your pain meds. I am really happy you dont have to wait to long, You just never... ... If you search old posts here you will find such a wealth of info. Cath was out after surgery after a few hours, and then they had me up when I had to go. I never stayed more than a 24 hour stay. A real shower was probably day 3, I think I remember not being allowed for 3 days so not to wet the scar. The most I ever did was 2 levels at a time. You can get this... (5 replies)

... For me, I can't say that I hurt all over, but only in certain places. When I hurt it's usually in my neck area and I've been getting stiff and sore between my shoulder blades. I seem to be doing ok with pain otherwise. (19 replies)
