... Does anyone have any information regarding robaxin vs. zanaflex. I am 4 days post op from acdf c6-c7 and the 4mg zanaflex every 6-8 hours only knocks me out but does nothing noticeable for muscle pain. My Dr. is going to have me try robaxin... Any feedback? (1 replies)
... Hey there Ron, how are are the meds working for you? I have tried all but the zanaflex, I took roboxin instead or valium. Cant take anything like neurontin, dont respond well to that type of drug & norco did nothing for me but had a friend who was a mess with her spine & she found relief with norco & zanaflex. Cant remember if she was on anthing else at the time. Sounds... (7 replies)

... Yes, I have used it. Zanaflex is a short-acting muscle relaxer. It works by blocking nerve impulses (pain sensations) that are sent to your brain. Zanaflex is used to treat spasticity by temporarily relaxing muscle tone. Seems to work ok as muscle relaxer, but agravates my GERD, so I do not use it much. BTW, I had ACDF neck surgery C5-6 a few years ago and still... (2 replies)

... Robaxin is an older drug and stronger. Zanaflex was developed to be a muscle relaxer that people could take during the day and not get drowsy. It is no where near as strong as the older drugs. ... (1 replies)
... Hi Ron! At times Neurontin has been a lifesaver for me. I do not take it year round, I do cycles of it - maybe 3-6 months on at a time when I really need it. You can't just stop it you have to wean off, not for withdrawl but for brain health. I have been on up to 3600mg of it and at the higher doses you can get a little "airheaded" and dopey (and not in the drug high... (7 replies)
... Im not so sure I am gonna take this zanaflex for very long, It REALLY knocks me out but I still wake up two or three time a night with my neck pain... Im gonna call him today and see what they say.... ... (7 replies)
... Been there. Zanaflex is a mild muscle relaxant that supposed to not make you too sleepy. Also doesn't relax the muscles in my opinion. ... (7 replies)

... Went to see spinal doctor this morning. In reading my MRI he decided surgery would be a last option at this time. I have a couple of disc pressing on nerves. The neck pain plus headaches are my biggest complaint. Pain management would be the primary focus for now. So, he gave me a prescription for something, I think, called zanaflex. Anyone have any idea of its use or... (2 replies)
... ting called Zanaflex. I start wheezing on most of them so I haven't been on most of them for a while.....about all I can use is Soma or Valium. But I do remember Zanaflex being pretty good and I could still work okay on it. ... (18 replies)
... My husband, who has RSD in his legs, took Topamax for awhile. It made him depressed, he slept 16-18 hours a day, didn't eat, couldn't remember anything. It didn't have the good effects that you see, but I really saw a difference when he went off of it. He now takes Lyrica (which was making his hands tremble, but now we know that is preferable). He also takes methadone and... (3 replies)

... ost 24 hours a day. I'm also constantly massaging my neck and shoulders. My surgeon does not prescribe muscle relaxers, but I have about a months worth left of zanaflex from what my pm prescribed. Even with the zanaflex, I need the heating pad. Once in a great while I'll rotate with ice. ... (8 replies)

... ited told me the disc that was replaced in 1994 looked good on the MRI. My present pain he indicated was coming from two disc infringing on nerves. He prescribed Zanaflex for pain after telling me srugery would be his last option. Well, the pain is still there and the zanaflex seems only to make me sleepy. ... (2 replies)
... in February that didn't help but they did start this latest bout of spasms. The Dr. prescribed Zanaflex but it didn't help. ... (7 replies)
... Salukidawg, I'm faced with the same problem, and have gotten to the point that I need to take action. Mine involves my left arm, and more painfully, my left shoulder. The arm pain, tingling, and "shocked" feeling are reasonably controlled during the day with Bextra, Zanaflex and Tylenol #3. The nearly uncontrolled pain occurs in my shoulder, which feels as if it is a... (5 replies)
... e after 2 surgeries and refered me to a pain clinic, which I did not go to. I want to be fixed not medicated. I continue to take Lortab 10, Neurontin, Mobic, and Zanaflex daily to help control my pain and unending muscle spasms that occur whenever they want to. I'm at the end of trying to live with this. ... ... Hello, I am new to these boards but will just briefly explain situation. Have been dealing with sciatic type leg pain for years. In march of 2012, had MRI that showed mildly herniated disc at L5 S1 and a moderately herniated disc at T12 L1. My GP ordered series of 3 epidural injections after trying medication and then physical therapy over the past year. Only got a few weeks... (8 replies)
... Just FYI but Zanaflex is a muscle relaxer and not really a nerve pain medication like Neurontin, Lyrica, or Cymbalta... ... (5 replies)
... Thank you so much for your very quick replies. It surely gives me some options and things to think about. I am on Zaniflex for the nerve pain given to me by my Neurologists. I do have numbness in my left foot, sometimes don't feel it at all. Everything you describe fits me to a T. I understand the pain pump being a later type thing, which is really ok with me. Just want... (5 replies)
... Sorry to hear of your pain... I don't see you mention any type of nerve pain medication like Neurontin, Cymbalta, or Lyrica. This can be very helpful if any of the spurs are touching nerves. This is where an opiate does not touch that type of pain. And without ever having any type of surgery and only being on Morphine...I don't think there is a Dr. out there that would... (5 replies)
... Just in case you haven't tried them all...There is Flexeril, Robaxin, Skelaxin, Baclofen, Soma, or Zanaflex that are all muscle relaxers. ... (7 replies)
