TMJ Disorder -TemporoMandibular Joint Board Index

Hi, I also have TMJ, and the only thing that I'm dealing right now are my ears. I have the crackling sounds): I've been to 2 ENTs and they do not see anything wrong with my ears. I've been dealing with ear issues for 17 months. At first I had an earache in my right ear (no infection), then I had the swooshing sounds in my ears. The swooshing sounds went away after I started wearing the orthotic, but now I'm dealing with the crackling sounds. Luckily I don't have pain. My right ear is super sensitive - especially to the high pitched sounds. I'm starting physical therapy this coming Monday because I get muscle spasms on my face in the evening. I've been wearing an orthotic and I'm so ready to get rid of it. My TMJ specialist and oral surgeon told me I was ready to start orthodontic treatment. Hopefully, the braces will help stabilize my bite. I just got a job that I really like, and I need to get better to be able to perform my new job. I used to be a teacher, and I had to change careers because of the excessive talking. I'm sorry I'm venting. I feel like crying right now because no one understands how debilitating TMJ is. I look normal, but I deal with TMJ every single second. Thanks for listening, and God Bless!!!

Austinbobcat,
I am so sorry for what you are going through. I just feel that everyone goes from Dr to Dr with no real relief. This is so not fair! TMJ has been in control of my life for the last 6 months and like you, I just want my life back. Every dentist I see says they know exactly what's wrong and how to fix it. In the mean time, my symptoms are getting worse. So frustrating. Rant over.
