TMJ Disorder -TemporoMandibular Joint Board Index

One of you asked about my symptoms. Using the Kinnie-Funt, i'll post them below. Please remember I don't have all of these every day; some tend to come and go.

Eye Pain and Eye Problems:
-eye pain above, below, behind
- blurring of vision
- pressure behind the eyes (often)
- light sensitivity (everyday recently)
- watering of the eyes (also everyday now, very annoying)

Head Pain, Headache Problems, Facial Pain:
- forehead pain
- temporal pain
- "migraine" type headache (get so tired of hearing my regular doctor think its just migraines. Now he's at least out of that and onto trigeminal neuralgia)
- sinus headache under the eyes
- posterior headaches, back of head, with or without shooting pains (with shooting pains everyday for a few years now)
- hair and/or scalp painful to touch (I always thought this was just me being crazy. Glad to know its a real symptom!)

Mouth, Face, Cheek, and Chin Problems:
- discomfort or pain to any of these areas (all the time)
- limited opening- inability to open the jaw smoothly or evenly (jaw did open pretty far this appointment; yay arthrocentesis and constant jaw exercises!)
- jaw deviates to one side when opening

Teeth and Gum Problems:
- clenching or grinding at night (always been one of my worst symptoms. I can bite through anything with the clenching!)
- looseness and or soreness of back teeth
- tooth pain

Jaw and Jaw Joint Problems:
- clicking, popping jaw joints
- grating sounds
- jaw locking opened or closed (only happened a few times open, thank goodness. One time it was for about 4 hours though; so glad I don't have this all the time)
- pain in cheek muscles
- uncontrollable jaw or tongue movements (chattering jaw; ick)

Ear Pain, Ear Problems, and Postural Imbalances:
- hissing, buzzing, ringing, or roaring sounds
- diminished hearing
- ear pain without infection (always think I have an ear infection)
- clogged, stuffy, "itchy" ears, feeling of fullness
- balance problems, "vertigo", dizziness, or disequilibrium (really bad recently)

Throat Problems:
- tightness of throat
- sore throat without infection
- voice fluctuations
- laryngitis (I had it for 6 weeks one time; it was awful. Happens constantly now)
- frequent coughing or constant clearing of throat
- feeling of foreign object in throat

Neck and Shoulder Problems:
- lack of mobility (gets really bad if I don't keep up with PT, like all of these symptoms)
- reduced range of movement
- stiffness
- neck pain
- tired, sore neck muscles
- shoulder aches
- back pain upper and lower
- arm and finger tingling, numbness and or pain (my right arm has this really bad. Did the nerve conduction study and everything came back fine. My oral surgeon is "wigged out" by this, saying he's never seen anyone with this symptom in his years of practice. I'm starting to think i'm nuts, and am grateful to see it is listed here.)

So, there are my symptoms. I feel nuts having such a long list but each one is very real. Everyday that passes, the symptoms just get more severe and there are new ones each week. I just want this to be over.

I can relate to ALL of these symptoms and a few more and the doctors don't believe me. I'm at my wit's end where to go for help. Splint therapy didn't help and now I have moved to Florida I have no clue where to start looking for help. If anybody knows of any good place to go East Coast Central Florida area I would really appreciate it. I don't mind traveling a couple of hours.
