... Hello! Any DX that claims to "fix TMJ" you should RUN. There is NO CURE for TMJ, BUT pain & function can be reduced and returned to a degree. Surgery SHOULD ALWAYS be your very LAST option. Once you get on the surgery train there is no going back. Remember this is your body YOU make the decisions and if you are uncomfortable with ANY doctor find another!! I hope you find... (6 replies)

... nion, who completely agreed with the diagnosis, but not with the course of treatment. I chose to let Dr. Freedman treat me, because he does not think that he can fix TMJ by himself, because other parts of the body are affected by this dysfuction, and my jaw has never hurt. ... (15 replies)
... When I said it has nothing to do with the TMJ I meant that they don't touch them at all. Also, orthognathic surgery isn't meant to fix TMJ problems. If you are having orthognathic surgery, don't expect your TMJ problems to just go away forever, because it is not necessarly going to happen. ... (3 replies)

I didn't mean to suggest or imply that PT works to "cure" or "fix" tmj merely that is often used in conjunction with dental treatments which should actually correct the source or root problem - appropriate PT (or other alternative therapies such as chiro, cranial sacral, acupuncture, etc) for tmj can often help the muscles relax and regain their proper functioning quicker than... Thank you all! what I mean is that if I eat anything chewy..Ie a hamburger..carrots are out, apples etc..I could not eat this stuff because my joints start to burn and my facial muscles spasm out. My doc did say that I would feel better during pregnancy..not so much. I dont get migranes as intense, but the joint and face pain, the buring etc..bad. I used to take valium that... (5 replies)

... k about 3 months of adjustments and trying different options but I am finally feeling some relief. I can't say I'm cured because I'm not, it takes a long time to fix TMJ, but in the last 3 weeks I have only taken painkillers on 2 occasions so that is something! ... (19 replies)
