... I think you need to have an MRI and a CT scan. These tests can show how healthy the joint is and can rule out whether their is displacement of your disc and other issues with the joint. Frankly I wouldn't trust any dentist who says they can only diagnose TMD by seeing if the splint helps. ... (14 replies)

I am not a good candidate for any joint replacement...I am allergic to metal and the plastics they use...so I just live with the pain...take narcotics when i need them, live on good doses of Ibuprofin...I have learned the massage that they use on me...so i do those...acupunture has not worked... ...
