... lly today and I happened upon this website. Im 22 uni student and from London. I was referred to the Eastman Dental Hospital when i was 15 with almost as severe tmj as i have now. They found nothing and gave me a bit of paper with jaw exercises that only exacerbated my symptoms which i tried for about a year. ... (16 replies)

... E again or to your GP to see if they can help or even push for a quicker appointment for you. TMJ does not tend to clear up on its own though. Usually you have to have some sort of treatment, usually an appliance for your mouth. ... (12 replies)

... I had a private MRI arranged by my private specialist as again the NHS said there was nothing wrong enough to warrant one. Even if I could have had a NHS MRI I would proabaly had to wait up to a year for it. ... (19 replies)

... per back to relax, then that in turn relaxes the muscles above...primarily in the neck and jaw. I usually lay with a heating pad for at least 20min., and put one on my neck for an addtl. 10 or 20 as well. This helps the muscle spasms temporarily, so you could maybe sleep a little better. ... ... I really struggle to afford private treatment. I started with a mouthguard that I got from my NHS dentist, but as it was soft, I actually found myself clenching on it more in my sleep. It did not help my TMJ as it did not correct my jaw positioning, just protected my teeth from damage from grinding. ... (19 replies)
