You have to realize the 14 day myth doesnt go for every even those with a 28 day cycle. You really should read the book Taking Charge Of Your Fertility by Toni Weschler. It is truly a great book and will teach you so much on increasingyour chances of gettting pregnant.
Counting days unless you know your LP doesnt help much. Your LP is the day right afer O to the day befor eyour next period starts. If you know how many days your LP is then you can count back from the first day of your period and pinpoint when you Oed for your last cycle. LPs range bewteen 12 to 16 days. Say you have a 28 day cycle that means your O day depending on your LP would be between days 12 to 16.
Your best bet if you dont know your LP and dont want to do charting and such just yet. Plan to have sex starting about day 8 up to when your next period is due. Some docotrs will tell you days 10 through 20 but that can miss an egg if you O early or late for that cycle. You can do it every day or every other day depending on you and your husband.
With my first son we werent concerned with charting,or timing things we just had fun and let things happen. With our second after the horrid Depo we started learnign about timing, charting and so on.
I've been charting my temp and AF's visits as well as when AF leaves.
I too just got off of birthcontrol myself. Although, I was on the patch.
*shrug* thanks for the advise on the book...I've heard a lot about it although I haven't had the chance to go pick it up yet. My fiance and I are just having fun with it right now, although we ARE trying. I just really wanted to be PG by Christmas. That would make for a great gift for my parents. Considering it'll be their first grandchild and I've been in remission for 5 months with cervical cancer. So having a baby is going to be a great blessing for all of us.
