Hi Usp

Maybe your daughter could do with having some kidney test carried out, ensuring her kidneys are functioning properly. This test she had if hospital would have included her kidneys . but there are other tests she can have done...........general ultrasound, ct scan and special blood tests which can pick up kidney problems.

Also you mentioned that your daughter has been catheterised in hospital. the more a person has been catheterised more at risk of UTI's they are. This is due to a foriegn body entering the bladder. How many times has she been catheterised?

There is something simple that you can do to help prevent UTI's. One glass of cranberry juice has shown great results in people who suffer from recurrent UTI's. Try and get your daughter to drink one glass of this each day and this should help to reduce her UTI's.

Also Vitamin C makes the urine acidic and helps to reduce the number of potentially harmful bacteria in the urinary tract system.

The most common cause of uti's are bacteria from the bowel that live on the skin near the rectum or in the vagina which can spread and enter the urinary tract through the urethra. Another cause of UTI is waiting too long to urinate. The bladder is a muscle that stretches to hold urine and contracts when the urine is released. Waiting very long past the time you first feel the need to urinate causes the bladder to stretch beyond its capacity which over time can weaken the bladder muscle. When the bladder is weakened it may not empty completely and some urine is left in the bladder which may increase the risk of urinary tract infection or bladder infection.

I hope this has helped and i hope your daughter is ok
