Re: Help peed blood
Sep 24, 2006
I've had 7 or 8 UTI's over the last 4 years, and I've done quite a bit of symptom and prevention research. You may have a UTI, but there's no way to really know for sure unless you are tested by your doctor through urinalysis. My gyno requires all her patients to have urinalysis when they visit for their yearly exams b/c many women have UTI's and don't even know it. I've had experiences with UTI's ranging from on and off pain with urination and frequent urination to passing bits of tissue and so much blood in the urine it was opaque and bright red.

I've heard good and bad things about the at-home AZO UTI test strips (about $10), but you might want to try those to get an indication of whether you have a UTI or not.

I have no idea why you would experience such pain for a few hours and nothing after that. I would go to my general practitioner or gyno just to be sure. The good news is antibiotics generally work very quickly and very well. Just be sure to finish all the pills or your infection may come back that much worse.
