Sorry to bother you ladies with this, but I am starting to get concerned.
I am already scheduled to have a colonscopy and endoscopy for rectal bleeding. But now I'm having unusual vaginal bleeding as well.
Background: I had a freeze procedure done before I had my 2 kids in july 94 after a bad pap and biopsy showing dysplasia. Then in march 95, had a D&C and cervical scrapping cause it was back. Right after that got pg with my son and then 2 years later my daughter. Every year my pap has been ok. I have had lots of spotting before my period every month. Last fall missed 2, but thought it was due to thyroid medicine I had started. Now, in the last month I had noticed some rectal bleeding (I do not have anal sex either), so the GI is planning on scoping me in 1.5 weeks. Now it's been a week since I finished my period and the last 2 times I had intercouse with hubby, I have spotted some (not a whole lot). This afternoon with my BM, I noticed blood in the water and thought it would be from my GI issues, but upon wiping noticed this is actually NOT coming from there, but from the front. My hubby had a vasectomy, so I know it's not a pg-related thing.
My yearly GYN appt isn't scheduled for another 6 months (Feb).
Should I be concerned?
It's a very good thing that you are going in for a colonsocopy and endoscopy, but I'd make an appt. with your gyno. as well., for a pelvic and vaginal ultrasound. Any blood, from the vagina (aside from your period) or rectum should never be ignored. The fact that you've stayed on top of all your annual pap smears makes me think the bleeding could be uterine related. It could be a number of reasons, besides uterine cancer. I know you feel overwhelmed by all these upcoming tests, but, for your peace of mind, I'd talk to your gyno. about your pelvic health. Besides, it's always a good idea to involve your gyno. in your other tests as well. With empathy...
Thanks for taking the time to respond and your advice.
As for me - it has turned into a full period - so that puts it 14 days from the start of one to the next.
Saw the GYN yesterday and during her exam she touched something that made me come off the table and it has been killing me ever since. And the bleeding is heavier. She said we would have to talk about surgery, but wanted me to get my GI issues settled first.
Now after calling the nurseline, she has called back and wants me back in for an ultrasound Monday.
What can they touch that would hurt during the exam (I've never hurt before) and would continue to hurt afterwards - let alone cause you to bleed every 2 weeks?
THANKS for any advice.
THANKS for your replies.
The ultrasound detected adenomyosis along with the 3 fibroids I already knew about from 6 years ago that have not grown. And she is recommending a hysterectomy, but she wants me to take care of the GI issues first. My upper GI series is tomorrow. From what I've been reading about ademo is that it is a form of endo or similar to endo in that the endo layer is growing where it shouldn't. So it is painful and crampy and brings on the heavy periods.
I now think she may have touched my right ovary and that is what hurt so bad for so long afterwards.
Since then I am still VERY crampy down low and go from a flat stomach in the morning to looking 3 months pregnant at night - having to wear elastic band pants to work - thank God for Chicos!
