Hi, I have been reading and getting lots of helpful information here. My story is familiar to many of you. Had not had a bit of spotting or bleeding since my last period four years ago. Now at age 54 I noticed spotting several weeks ago that has gradually gotten heavier. I had an ultrasound done and was told the uterine lining was very thick for a post-menopausal woman. My GYN said to schedule an endometrial biopsy, am having that later today. When I asked "what does the higher lining number mean?" all she said was "That is what we are doing the biopsy for". I didn't ask any other questions, at the time I did not know what TO ask. Up till now I have never had problems at all, my yearly pap tests had all been normal, etc. So I go home, start doing research online (getting more anxious all the while), and at last found this board. Since my biopsy is today I HOPE to get results soon so I can share them with others here, and continue to get advice and support, and hopefully be able to help others by sharing my experience. So far the waiting has been the hardest to get through, I hope it does not take long to get the biopsy results!

[QUOTE=Dianegiff;4261951]Hi,I am 54 also. I had 3 weeks of very light spotting. My hormone levels verified I am post menopause. Pap okay Had the ultra sound 13mm thick uterus. I am scheduled for a DNC. Gyne said I could have the biopsy in the office or the DNC. I asked her what she would do and she said the DNC will give you 100% positive results. So That is what I am going to do. Let me know how things work out for you today

I wasn't given the option, after the ultrasound my GYN scheduled the endometrial biopsy, and that is what I had this afternoon. The biopsy procedure was very "uncomfortable", the cramping was much more severe than I had anticipated...on the plus side, it was over with in a few minutes.
I am told I can expect results in a week to ten days...so it is back to the waiting game! Best of luck to you to, and to everyone waiting for "test results". Sometimes a day for the "lab" is a lifetime to those of us waiting to hear the outcome of the tests!
