Uterine Sarcoma?
Sep 25, 2010
Hi everyone,

I'm currently in remission for a rare form of bone cancer, called telangiectatic osteosarcoma. I finished chemo in June and had my limb salvage surgery in April. My July scans showed no evidence of disease. Now I seem to have another problem.

I've been having pain in my upper left thigh/butt area. I went into my oncologist and they did a bone scan and MRI on the area, the only thing that showed up was something in my uterus, sitting directly on a nerve down to my leg. My bone scan was clean. They said that it doesn't look like it's related to osteo, but after meeting with the radiology department and the gynecology department they aren't sure of what it is exactly. It doesn't look like a cyst, but it is fluid filled. They scheduled me for a PET scan on Friday. My surgical oncologist's PA says he's pretty sure it's not cancer, but wants to be 100% sure. He said it could possibly be a hemorrhagic cyst.

I know it's very rare for sarcoma to spread to the uterus, but unfortunately, I already have a rare subtype of a rare cancer, so I tend to freak out a bit. Has anyone had a similar experience where they had no clue what it was from an MRI? Would a CT be better? I know the PET scan will show if it's cancer or not, I'm just looking for someone that has perhaps had similar symptoms before?

Thanks.
