... C but that was only 45 min. This surgery will be up to 3 hours, so they need to do the full anesthesia to prevent aspiration, and the strain on the kidneys is much more severe. I am going to try to consult with the anesthesiologist to discuss my options. ... (7 replies)
... I'm schedule for a D&C on March 18. Looking for opinions of spinal versus general anesthesia. Also - any input on expected recovery time. Thanks (0 replies)
... Hi Amie - glad to hear he is doing a D&C. This is a better way to make sure everything is okay and pathology will check was it removed - he will probably do a hysterscope at the same time to "look around" to see if there are any polyps (which do not show up on ultrasound). My first D&C found 8-10 polys which were probably causing my excessive bleeding. I had general... (7 replies)

... My biggest concern now is that I can't remember ANYTHING. I had surgery on my hand this summer after the crash and burn ski accident and I think the anesthesia did's really bugging me though. Some hyster sisters have called this "brain fog"..and maybe they are right. Not so hot about getting older.. ... (83 replies)
... ing to do a robotic laprascopic hysterectomy in December. I am a high risk patient due to my weight and stage 3 chronic kidney disease. They are telling me the anesthesia I need for surgery could cause permanent renal failure. Needless to say I am terrified. ... (7 replies)
... Cs a year apart and they are not bad at all. Both times I had general anesthesia and the procedure takes about 20 minutes. It's a "Dilation and Cutterage". Basically your cervix gets dilated and your uterus "cleaned out". ... (21 replies)
... Hi Kate - how did you find your new gyn? Did your medical doctor recommend? That's how I found mine. I was first going to a young woman that he had recommended but she kept pushing for a hysterectomy so after a year I told my medical doctor I wanted the opinion of another gyn and that's how I got the one I have now. I think all my problems were just screwed up hormones due... (13 replies)
... Hi Leah17, Sorry to hear what your going through...hope my story will help. I'm 56 yo and was experiencing postmenopausal bleeding, very light, off & on for 2 + years. My gyn told me that any bleeding after menopause is abnormal & needs to be evaluated. So, here's what I ended up going through. I had a transvaginal ultrasound that showed a slightly thickened endometrial... (4 replies)
... I understand completely! I have endometriosis, a very serious case but I am unable to even have something as simple as an optical diagnostic test, ( I have forgotten the name of the test, with the little scope into the abdomen). There is not a doctor that will give me a D&C, a biopsy, any type of anesthesia, and certainly not a much needed hysterectomy! Instead of any of those... (5 replies)
... in doc's office; apparently there is the chance that they didn't get enough tissue; i haven't had any bleeding as a result of the biopsy and wonder if that is an indication the doc didn't get enough tissue; i guess if they don't get enough tissue, i will have to have a D&C under anesthesia (yuck) (0 replies)

... Hi Shellbel78 - are you having it done in your doctor's office or in the hospital? I had two done but both were in connection with D&Cs so I had general anesthesia. It's a method whereby the doctor "looks around" inside the uterus. Have you had endometrial biopsies? I had several (more than 6) over a period of 2 years and they were done in the office. If you have any... (6 replies)

... Well, I did have laser surgery a little over two weeks ago (laser vaporization) and thought I'd describe to let anyone interested in knowing what it was like. It was definitely not a fun experience!! (Take into consideration, I'm not a fan of pain so much...and I definitely don't want to scare anyone, but I know I really would have liked to hear how the experience would be... (3 replies)
